Yvonne Zabel-Bisping March 31, 1937 - August 20, 2009

Yvonne Zabel-Bisping, age 72 of Faribault, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services. Yvonne Marie Caron, the daughter of Lester and Marie (Bluel) Caron, was born on March 31, 1937 in Faribault. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1955. During high school Yvonne worked as a waitress at the Olympia Caf. On April 7, 1956 she was united in marriage to Frank "Sonny" Zabel Jr. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. They were later divorced. Yvonne worked for over 40 years for the State of Minnesota at the Faribault Regional Center and later at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind where she worked as a night house parent at Dow Hall. Yvonne had a special relationship with the children at MSAB and loved them dearly. On May 22, 1987 she married Arthur Bisping. Art was an active member of the Osman Shriners of St. Paul and Yvonne traveled with him to many Shriner events. They also enjoyed going dancing with friends. Art preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2003. Yvonne loved to spend time working in her garden and with her flowers. She also enjoyed her cats and dogs. She is survived by three children, Leslie "Pixie" Spratt and fiance Roy Rahn of Aurora, CO, Melodie "Penny" (Chuck) Morris of Faribault and Steve (Jann) Zabel of Faribault; by a step son, Ward (Ellen) Bisping of Faribault; by a step daughter, Julie Kaldahl of Olathe, KS; by seven grandchildren; by five step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; by four brothers, Hillary (Imogene) Caron, Greg (Pat) Caron and David (Collette) Caron all of Faribault and Jerome (Vi) Caron of California; by her sister Darlene (Dick) Rech of Northfield, MN; by the father of their children, Frank Zabel Jr. of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Donald Caron.
