GLENN JAMES “GUS” WOBSCHALL , age 91 of Waseca, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.
Born in Waseca on August 6, 1922, Glenn was the son of Dana and Florence (Wiemann) Wobschall. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1940 and went to work for the E.F. Johnson Co. until he was drafted into the United States Army Air Force on November 11, 1942. Following his honorable discharge in 1946 he returned to the E.F. Johnson Co. where he worked as a tool and die machinist for 43 years until his retirement. On February 12, 1947 Glenn married Avis Hatle at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. They shared 66 years together. Glenn loved spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, and baseball. He was also a proud member of the Waseca American Legion Post 228 for 66 years. During those years he served as Post Commander, Chaplain, and was on the Honor Guard and Rifle Squad. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Avis of Waseca; daughter Karen (Clark) Swenson of Buffalo; son Dane (Claudia) Wobschall of Waseca; and brother Milo Wobschall of Waseca. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Mara (Jeff) Swenson, Grant (Melany) Swenson, Leif (Jenna) Swenson, Brittany Wobschall, and Megan Wobschall; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Makenna, Ari, and Jonah Swenson. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and two brothers, Donald and Roger Wobschall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Roger Haug officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church. A private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca is handling the arrangements.Â
