WILLIE JUNIOR EICHHORST, age 86 of Waldorf, died on the morning of Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Willie was born in Waseca County on December 24, 1937, to parents Wilhelm and Alma (Schwarz) Eichhorst. He attended school in Waldorf and graduated with the class of 1955. Willie was married to Barbara M. Standke on September 20, 1969, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca by Rev. Meisner. Willie served in the United States Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged. He was a livestock and crop farmer all of his life, and he had a great love for the work. Over the years he worked on many farms, often while simultaneously caring for his own. He also enjoyed cutting wood on the farm, and he took great pride in his wood piles. Willie served on the Vivian Township board for 34 years, and also served on the FSA committee board for Waseca County.
Willie is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Barb Eichhorst of Waldorf; two sons, Jay Eichhorst of Mankato and Rick (Katie) Eichhorst of Mankato; two grandsons, Ryan and Brandon Eichhorst; one brother, Dean Eichhorst of Shakopee; six nieces; six nephews; two sisters-in-law, Karen Standke of Montana, and Karyl (Kevin) Miller of New Richland. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Allen Eichhorst; his parents-in-law, Karl and Evelyn Standke; one brother-in-law, Karl Standke; and one sister-in-law, Annabelle Eichhorst.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, with Rev. Larry Sipe officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf.
