William Edward Fasteen August 23, 1931 - September 5, 2014

William Edward Fasteen, age 83, of Waseca and formerly of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2014 at his home following an extended illness.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

William Edward, son of Wilbur and Gerda (Lexvold) Fasteen, was born on August 23, 1931 in Red Wing, Minnesota. He attended high school in Waubun, Minnesota before joining the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the Army, he worked for the Minnesota Highway Department, as a circulation manager for Lakes Publishing, and as a job developer for the Department of Labor before retiring in 1996. William was united in marriage to Kaethe Guthruf in 1953. He lived in Detroit Lakes until 2004 when he moved to Waseca to be closer to family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. William enjoyed gardening and volunteering for many organizations including Boy Scouts, Boys Club, and at his church.

William is survived by his children, Roger (Debbie) Fasteen and daughter Elizabeth of Cordova, Tennessee, Carol (Steve) Enabnit and children Kayla and Nathan of Campbell, California, and Barbara (Timothy) Dann and children Travis (Leslie) and Jodi (Adam) of Waseca; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and by his brother Jack Fasteen of Brainerd, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; his daughter, Ute Rosalinda; his parents; and his brother, Tom.
