William DuChene June 6, 1929 - April 27, 2010
William L. DuChene, age 80, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Abbott- Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a brief illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. William Louis DuChene, the son of Louis Edward and Marie (Carpenter) DuChene, was born on June 6, 1929 in Faribault. Bill attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Faribault High School. He had a passion for fishing and landed the catch of his life in marrying Betty Smisek on August 11, 1948 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Bill was a lifelong resident of Faribault and worked for Land O'' Lakes Creamery for 15 years and then Nelson''s Super Value for 38 years. Besides fishing, he enjoyed playing cards and time with grandchildren and great granddaughters. He was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of the Fourth Degree of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty of Faribault; son, Dennis (Rita) DuChene of Faribault and their children, Mark (Sarah) DuChene, Eric (Allie) DuChene and great granddaughter, Madeline Rose, and Daniel DuChene; daughter, Joyce (David) Anderson of Apple Valley and their children, Matthew Anderson and Kristin (Dan) Kapaun; and son-in-law, Chuck Pettipiece of Mankato and his children, Ryan (Sara) Pettipiece and great granddaughter, Abby Charlotte, and Adam (Shannon) Pettipiece and great granddaughter, Peyton Diane; special nephew, Mike (Michelle) Scott; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Walter; sisters, Doris, Charlotte, Rosella, Evangeline, and Darlene; son, Mark Albert DuChene; and daughter, Diane Marie Pettipiece. Memorials are preferred to ALS Society, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society in memory of Bill.
