Wayne P. Siegfried, age 55, of Grand Rapids, MN and formerly of Faribault, died suddenly on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with Rev. Richard L. Jorgensen, pastor of First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with military honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wayne Patrick Siegfried, the son of Donald and Lorraine (Silkey) Siegfried, was born on December 18, 1952 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Henry B. Wilson. He continued his military service in the Naval Reserves. Wayne worked as custodian at District One Hospital, security officer at the Minneapolis Airport, a truck driver, and most recently a cab driver in Faribault. He lived in Faribault until moving to Grand Rapids a year and a half ago. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562. He was an avid Star Trek fan, spent many hours with computer games and had a great interest in military ships. He is survived by specials friends, Tabitha Kuperus and her children, Stephanie and Thomas, of Grand Rapids, and Mary Holmes of Faribault; his uncle and aunt, Dale and Janet Silkey; cousins, Mark (Patti) Siegfried of Faribault, Bruce (Janell) Siegfried of Golden Valley, Mike (Karrie) Siegfried of Faribault, Lisa (Dave) Risch of Owatonna, and Beverly (Tom) Klemer of Faribault; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Joseph and Emma Silkey and Fred and Hazel Siegfried; uncle and aunt, Melvin and Geraldine Siegfried; and cousin, Linda Silkey
