Wayne Fred Mundt

WAYNE FRED MUNDT, age 70, of Columbia Heights passed away at his home on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Wayne was born on December 9, 1954, in Waseca County, Minnesota, the son of Ruben and Ella (Mittelstadt) Mundt. He graduated from Waseca Central High School and went on to pursue higher education at Mankato State University, where he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.

Wayne devoted much of his career to education, working for thirty-seven years at the Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District in White Bear Lake. After retiring, he continued his work in the community, spending his later years at the City of Saint Anthony Village Liquor until his passing.

Wayne is survived by his siblings, Lloyd Mundt of Owatonna, Linda Sorenson of Waseca; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mundt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter and Norman Mundt; nephew, Adam Sorenson; brother-in-law, Richard Sorenson; and sister-in-law, Mary Mundt.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation service in Waseca. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Meriden.
