Wayne Hawker November 8, 1931 - October 22, 2009
Wayne L. Hawker, age 77 of Waseca, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Waseca Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 26th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Terry Quick officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Hills Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowerers memorials preferred to Little Lambs Day Care, St. Paul Lutheran Church, or donor''s choice. Wayne LeRoy was born on November 8, 1931 in St. Clair, Minnesota to Wilbur and Mildred (Flitter) Hawker. He was baptized on Dec. 6, 1931 at St. John''s Ev. Lutheran Church in St. Clair, and confirmed on Feb. 23, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. He attended Waldorf, Pemberton and Lake Crystal Schools. Wayne was united in marriage to Ruth Grundmeyer on Jan. 20, 1952 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He served his country in the U.S. Army from Sept. 5, 1952 until his honorable discharge on Sept. 4, 1954. Wayne and Ruth resided in Lake Crystal, North Mankato, and moved to Waseca in 1970. Over the years Wayne was employed in the fertilizer department with Midland Inc. in Lake Crystal, service manager at Miller Motors in Mankato, fertilizer manager at Midland Inc. in Waseca, and cooked at the Boat House in Waseca until his retirement. Wayne was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, the Waseca American Legion Post #228, and the Waseca Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3753. He is survived by his wife Ruth of Waseca; by his daughters Pamela (Terry) Hartman of Winona, Sarah (Pete) Madden of Waseca, Susan (Stan) Ziebarth of Madison Lake; by his sons Timothy (Carolyn) Hawker of Sault St. Marie, MI, and Thomas Hawker of Chaska; by his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; by his brother Marvin (Marilyn) Hawker of Hutchinson and his sister Phyllis (Chuck) Visher of Nevis. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his sister Judith Hawker; by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ted and Amanda Grundmeyer.
