Wayne D. St. Martin Sr. March 9, 1941 - September 5, 2015
Wayne D. St. Martin Sr., age 74 of Faribault, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN following a sudden illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be held at St. Patrick''s Cemetery in Shieldsville.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Wayne Douglas, the son of Donald Sr. and Margaret (Ottem) St. Martin, was born on March 9, 1941. Wayne attended school in Faribault. On April 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Shirley Frechette at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Wayne worked as a baker at Shattuck-St. Mary''s School for 27 years. He also worked for a short time at St. Olaf College as a cook and also at the Feed Mill Express in Faribault. Wayne also enjoyed working on their hobby farm in Walcott Township. Wayne and Shirley enjoyed horseback riding and with friends of theirs started the Flying "R" Saddle Club. They would go on trail rides with their club, many times in the Red Wing area. He enjoyed going on fishing trips up north, snowmobiling, watching the Minnesota Twins on TV and going to church on Sunday.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley St. Martin of Faribault; by three children, Kim Volk of Faribault, Wayne Jr. (Yvette) St. Martin of Faribault and Allan (Michelle) St. Martin of Elbow Lake, MN; by eight grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Lenway, Jennifer Canedo, Philip (Amanda) St. Martin, Matthew St. Martin and Brianna, Jacob St. Martin, Jessica St. Martin, Ollie St. Martin and Jenna St. Martin; by 4 great grandchildren; by three siblings, Donald Jr. "Butch" (Linda) St. Martin, Mark St. Martin and Carla Hanegraaf, all of
Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Dave Volk.
