WAYNE ALAN BREITBARTH, age 40 of Waseca, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Wayne was born in Madelia on September 5, 1982 to parents Alan and Catherine (McMullen) Breitbarth. He attended school in Truman and after graduation went on to attend Ely Community College and Rasmussen University where he studied business management and human resources. Wayne worked for over seven years at Media Comm, and was most recently employed as a dispatcher in law enforcement. He made many lasting friends in the Waseca Sheriff’s Office, Waseca Police Department, as well as other police departments around southern Minnesota. He was a member of the Minnesota Police Dispatcher’s Association, and was recently the recipient of a professional service award for his exemplary service to the police department during several high-pressure, high stress moments in our community’s history. He was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Antrim. He enjoyed ice fishing, his involvement with Waseca’s “Fermentals” brewing club, collecting and using cast iron, running events and triathlons, off-roading in his Jeep, and he loved all of his friends in the “10th Street Crew”.
Wayne is survived by both of his parents, Alan and Catherine Breitbarth of Waseca; two siblings, Amber (Joey) Bunyan of Jordan, and Robert (Kim) McCorvey of San Antonio, TX; five nieces and nephews, Savannah, Addyson, L.J., Kalara, and Leo; his beloved rescue-dog, Ruby; his German family; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Antrim. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. In Lieu of Flowers, you may make a contribution to The Invisible Wounds Project which was very close to Wayne's heart and he loved volunteering for them. dsofuneral.com
