Virginia Ruedy September 24, 1934 - December 17, 2010
Virginia L. Ruedy, age 76 of Waseca, died on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Lake Shore Inn of Waseca, where she resided the last 6 weeks of her life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Cary Larson, officiating. Interment will be in the Woodville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Waseca. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to donor''s choice. McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca is handling arrangements. Virginia Laverne was born on September 24, 1934 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Frank and Veda (Campbell) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in Buffalo Center. Virginia attended schools in Buffalo Center, Iowa, Blooming Prairie, Hartland, and Wells, and in 1952 graduated from Waseca Central High School. On July 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Erwin John Ruedy at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Virginia and Erwin resided in Waseca their entire married life, raising four children. Over the years Virginia provided child care as well as working for several local businesses, including; Iverson Law Office, Herters, Birds Eye, E.F. Johnson Co., J.C. Penney Co., Heavenly Home Bake, Viking Woodcraft and Waseca Mutual and retired in 1999. Her husband Erwin died on November 30, 1987. On May 31, 1999 Virginia married Frank William Hayes at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Virginia was very involved in her church and was one of supporting members that helped start Christ The King Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday school and was active in her circle. She also volunteered her time as a Cub Scout leader, and many other organizations and causes. Virginia was a wonderful cook (Frank called her the "World''s best cook") and baker and was known for her desserts (especially pies, and her pie crust) and her potato salad, had many loyal friends (some for many decades), and was an avid card player, especially bridge. She most enjoyed socializing and getting folks together for a good time, she also cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion for sports, especially local teams and the Gophers, were second to none, and the same zeal for sports was shared by many of her friends and family. She is survived by her husband Frank Hayes of Waverly; by her children Perry Ruedy of Minneapolis, Terry (Cindy) Ruedy, Sherrye (Al) Kuchenbecker all of Waseca, and Kerry "Butch" (Kris) Ruedy of Prior Lake; by her grandchildren Nick
