Virginia Stoering
VIRGINIA M. STOERING, age 89 of Springfield, formerly of Waterville, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Springfield.
Born in Le Center, Minnesota on January 5, 1930, Virginia was the daughter of Vincent and Adeline (Cashin) OMeara. She graduated from Le Center High School and then attended teachers training school. After teaching a few years, she married Gene Stoering June 13, 1950 in Le Center. On February 10, 1966 their lives were forever changed when a house fire took the lives of their five young children. Through faith, family, friends and many prayers Gene and Virginia adjusted to many changes. Virginia worked at Green Giant and for many years she worked at the Le Sueur County DAC in Waterville until retiring. She also helped Gene farm. Through these years God blessed them with two more children. Tragedy struck again in June 1997 when their son was killed in a jet ski accident. In November 2015 they moved to Springfield to be closer to their daughter and her family. Virginia enjoyed reading but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Elysian.
