VIRGINIA “GINNY” BLOWERS, age 95, lifelong resident of Waterville, died on December 6, 2021, at Traditions in Montgomery.
Born on September 11, 1926, in Waterville to William and Catherine Gertrude (Hoffmann) Poehler. She received her education at Waterville Public Schools. On May 16, 1945, Ginny was united in marriage to Stanley Lawrence Blowers at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Rectory. Together they made their home in Waterville while raising six children which included two sets of twins. Ginny and Stan shared 57 years of marriage before Stan passed away on October 2, 2002.
Throughout her life Ginny was a homemaker, raising her family of 6 children was a full-time job. She did work for the church cleaning the rectory and laundering linens for many years. In her youth she loved roller skating and sang in a women’s barbershop choir. After Stan’s retirement, they spent their summers traveling across Minnesota attending craft shows and selling Ginny’s embroidered dish towels and Stan’s woodwork. Ginny was a devote Catholic, regularly attending daily Mass as a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Ginny is survived by four of her children: Judy Clausen of Waseca, Rebecca Gibbs of Lewistown, MT, Bill (Luanne) Blowers of Waterville, and Kathy (Dave) Worden of Galesburg, IL; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Lucille Grose, Joseph (Roslyn) Poehler, and Robert (Doris) Poehler all of Waterville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Kirby; son, Jim Blowers; granddaughter, Heather Kirby; sons-in-law: Richard Clausen, Patrick Kirby, and Lee Gibbs; siblings: Bill Poehler and Angie Dahle; brothers-in-law: Bill Grose and Lee Dahle and sister-in-law, Phillis Poehler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
