Viola Barbknecht

Viola Barbknecht, 89 year old resident of Janesville, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, July 31, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Paul Muther officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.
Visitation will be from 4-7 on Thursday August 2, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Viola May Barbknecht was born on January 25, 1929, near Bixby, Minnesota to Edward and Mildred (Bice) Dierking. She received her education at Faribault High School, graduating with the class of 1948. Following her education she began working at Faribault Wooden Mills. On October 18, 1952, Viola was united in marriage to Bernhardt Barbknecht at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. Viola and Bernard made their home on a farm in the Janesville/Waseca Area. In 1970 they moved to Waseca where they resided until returning to Janesville in November of 2000. Viola worked at E.F. Johnson for over 20 years before retiring in 1991. In retirement they enjoyed spending their time camping at Ball Club Lake Lodge.
Viola was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca and later at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She enjoyed many hobbies including: making stain glass, painting, crocheting and tending to her flower gardens. She had a love for animals and above all else her family. She will be dearly missed.
Viola is survived by her son: Roger of Emmett, ID; daughters: Holly (Tim) Jewison of Mankato/Morristown and Cheryl (Tom) Krause of Janesville; three grandchildren: Preston Jewison (fianc, Sheenah Paquin), Garrett (Jessica) Jewison, and Shawn (Jacob) German; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons in infancy, granddaughter, Heather Jewison, brothers and one sister
