VERONICA McGANNON, age 92, of Waseca, died peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Veronica Marie McGannon was born on February 8, 1932, in Adrian, Minnesota, to Peter and Anne (Reiners) Kramer. Veronica attended St. Adrian Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1950. She continued her education at Mankato Commercial College where she studied to be a secretary. She worked for eight years following her education at North Star Concrete in Mankato as a secretary. Veronica was united in marriage to Joseph Raphael McGannon on May 12, 1962, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Together they began a family while living on the McGannon Family Farm. Together Veronica and Joe shared 56 years of marriage before Joe passed away on June 10, 2018.
Veronica was a wonderful homemaker and farmwife, always willing to help out wherever she was needed. Later in life she worked at LakeShore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca as well as volunteering at the Waseca Memorial Hospital, as well as delivering meals on wheels. She enjoyed playing cards, especially pfeffer, cooking, knitting, sewing and staying in contact with her family and friends on the computer. She was a devote Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf and Catholic Daughters. Her faith was very important to her, as she never missed Sunday Mass, and she would say the rosary daily. Veronica is remembered as a strong, faithful, caring, and independent woman who cherished her family. Blessed be her memory.
Veronica is survived by her children: Michael McGannon of Waseca, Peter (Angela) McGannon of Waseca, Daniel McGannon of Waldorf, and Mary Jo (Joe) Keltgen of St. Peter; grandchildren: Jack, Thomas, Matthew, and Jenna Keltgen, and Alexia, Jackson, and Jonathan McGannon; sister, Theresa Neigebauer of Owatonna; brother, Vernon Kramer of Adrian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter in infancy; sister, Mary Ann (Francis) McGannon; brother, Herman Kramer; brother-in-law, Robert Neigebauer; sister-in-law: Theresa (Joe) Wengronowitz; niece, Cathleen Ageta.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery at St. Mary Township, Waseca County. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
