Vernon Roemhildt, 86 year old resident of Pemberton, died peacefully on Sunday morning.
Jesus said "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the Crown of Life." Jesus saw fit on the Lords Day, October 15 to call His faithful servant Vernon Rollin Roemhildt to receive his Crown in Paradise. Vernon was born on September 11, 1931 in St. Peter, Minnesota to Emil and Minnie (Quiram) Roemhildt. He fell asleep in Jesus at home peacefully surrounded by loved ones comforted by the precious promises of Jesus.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City with Pastor Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment will follow the service in Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 8 PM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church and continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Vernon was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter "Bell" Lutheran Church in rural Elysian Township. He graduated from Waterville High School with the class of 1949. He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 1954. He served as a teacher and principal at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran of Alma City, MN, Immanuel Lutheran of Hutchinson, MN, St. Johns Lutheran of Red Wing, MN, and Christ Lutheran of Milwaukee, WI. After 42 years he retired to Pemberton, MN in 1996. In retirement he worked part time at Sams Club in Mankato for 10 years. Vernon remained actively involved in congregational life in his church. He was a member of the Pemberton City Council and the board of the PALS pre-school.
Vernon married Marlys Marzinske in 1956 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Alma City. They were blessed with 3 children and 62 years together. Still living lives of thankfulness for Vernon and anticipating the reunion in the New Jerusalem are his wife Marlys, children Crystal (Robert) Kramer of Greenville, WI, Cynthia (Adam) Horneber of Lakeside, AZ, and Tim (Jody) Roemhildt of North Mankato, MN, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ervie and sister-in-law Virginia Roemhildt, sister Loris and brother-in-law Gordon Wendt, and sister-in-law Norma Marzinske.
