Vern Victor Flitter

Vern Flitter, 90 year old resident of rural Pemberton, died peacefully at home and went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 24, 2020.

Vern Victor Flitter was born on October 16, 1930, to Victor and Elsie (Boettcher) Flitter in Mankato. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Iosco Township as an infant and later confirmed his faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca on April 2, 1944. He graduated from Waseca High School with the Class of 1948. While working at Didra’s Drug Store in Waseca, he met the love of his life, Irma Thralow, while she was working as a waitress at the Pheasant Café in Waseca. They were later married on December 16, 1950, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City and resided on the Thralow family farm in Freedom Township. Vern farmed with his father-in-law and later took over the farm. Vern was employed as a Moorman Mfg feed salesman, Waseca County Courthouse building maintenance person, served on the Freedom Township Board, the Alma City Cemetery Board, and several positions with St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City. He also earned his Master Gardener certification and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and times with his family.

Vern is survived by his four children: Charles (Virginia) of Pemberton, Sandra (Arlyn) Treanor of Minnesota Lake, Randall (Marian) of Groton, SD, Ramona (Daniel) Zihlke of Pemberton; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one brother, David (Cindy) Flitter of Reynolds, ND; one sister-in-law Irene Decker of Bemidji, MN; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife in January 2018; parents; parents-in-law: Herman and Irene (Klampe) Thralow; brother in infancy, Charles; sister and brother-in-law Norma and Louis Marzinske; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Adeline and Melvin Geyman; brother-in-law Harley Decker; and a grandson in infancy.

A Public Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the JANESVILLE CHAPEL of Dennis Funeral and Cremation Services. A private family services will be held at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Keith Bilitz, officiating. Burial will be in Alma City Cemetery.
