Verla Margaret was born on October 19, 1929, on the farm near New Richland. The youngest of five children born to Charles "Otto" and Magdalena (Radke) Schoenrock. She was a 1947 graduate of New Richland High School. On June 5, 1948, Verla was united in marriage to John Joseph Patrick Conway at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Together they made their home in Waseca while raising their eight children. Verla and John shared 68 years of marriage before John passed away on January 12, 2017.
Verla was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, and was always there when her family needed her the most. She never enjoyed being in the spotlight which was not usually a problem as John took care of that most of the time. Verla was a great cook and is remembered for all of her wonderful desserts as she passed her talent down to her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, music, and animals, especially dogs. Verla was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active in Social Concerns and Catholic Daughters. She is remembered most for her momisms, quiet sense of humor, and dedication to her family. Blessed be her memory.
Verla is survived by her loving children: Jeff (Carol) of Mesa, AZ, Beth Taylor of St. Paul, John of Waseca, Kristine (Steve) Harmeyer of Seattle, WA, Alice (Jeff) Brown of Charleston, SC and Mary Conway of Charleston, SC; daughters-in-law, Kathleen Conway of Deephaven and Judy Conway of Waseca; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
