Veda M. Skogen
Veda Skogen, 89, of rural Morristown passed away at the Homestead Hospice House on Friday, February 12, 2016.
Born in Meriden, MN on July 14, 1926, she was the daughter of Albertus Elwood Sharp and Agnes (Rae) Sharp. Veda graduated from District 42 country school in 1939. She married Harrison "Harry" Skogen on November 27, 1949 at the home of her parents in Deerfield Township, Steele County. Veda worked in food service at Shattuck St. Marys school in Faribault and at Owatonna restaurants. After Veda and Harry married, they moved to Kenyon for 3 years before returning to Deerfield and working on the family farm. Veda worked at the Maplewood restaurant, the Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca, Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home, and Country Kitchen restaurant before retiring. Veda enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crochet, gardening, reading, and pets but above all she was a devoted mother.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Skogen of Rowlett, TX, and Linda Skogen of Morristown, MN; four grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters in law, Lois Spatenka, of Owatonna, and Darlene Zander, of Burnsville, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, parents Albertus and Agnes Sharp, 3 brothers Lloyd, Alvin (Dewain), and Lester (Irene) Sharp, 1 sister Roa (Sharp) Oeljen, 1 great-grandson, Tyler Springer, and 1 brother-in-law, Donald Zander.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 11:00 AM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca with the Pastor John Linde officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca at a later date.
