Steven Robert Steve Cahill

Steven Robert Cahill, 62 year old resident of Waseca, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017, in Waseca.

Memorial Service will be 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca. Visitation will be from 5 7 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ McRaith Chapel in Waseca and for one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Memorials are preferred.

Steven R. Cahill was born in Waseca on May 30, 1955, to Robert and Ruth (Fell) Cahill, the oldest of five. He was a 1973 graduate of Waseca High School where he was a member of FFA and played football. Steve continued his education at Albert Lea Vo-Tech where he was crowned Snow King. Steve was united in marriage on July 19, 1975 to Marcyne Tietz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, Minnesota. They were blessed with two children. They were later divorced but continued a friendship that was held throughout his life.

He was a skilled mason and carpenter. He also co owned and operated The Rose Bar in Waseca, later he worked at Viracon in Owatonna for over 20 years. Steve liked gardening, fishing, biking, and art, he especially enjoyed playing pool, which he was very skilled at. Steve looked forward to attending AA meetings throughout the area. He enjoyed his time attending Grace Baptist Church in Owatonna with his son and family. Steve was a very talented and gifted individual. His family fondly remembers his witty sense of humor. He was a caring person who always had time for someone in need. He truly cherished time spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and his late grandmother, Ida Fell. He will be dearly missed.

Steve is survived by his two children: Joe (Gail) of Waseca and their children: Hannah, Naomi, Leah and Grace; Sarah (Jeff) Backman of Eden Prairie and their children: Olivia and Evan; ex-wife and friend, Marcyne Cahill of Waseca; father, Robert Cahill of Waseca; siblings Russ Cahill of Waseca, Diane (Bruce) Rumpza of Blooming Prairie and their children: David, Andrea, Patrick and John; Jody (Mike) Buker of Waseca and their son, Brian; Bonnie Cahill (Dale Beauchamp) of Eagle, CO; many cousins, other relatives and friends.


Preceded in death by his mom, Ruth Cahill, paternal grandparents, David and Marie Cahill, maternal grandparents, Ida and Lawrence Fell, and his niece, Emily Buker.
