Shirley Witt April 27, 1935 - May 4, 2011

Shirley A. Witt, age 76 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin and Vicar Michael Schuette officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery. The Witt family will greet friends on Friday afternoon from 5 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and will continue to greet friends on Saturday afternoon for one hour prior to services at church. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is in charge of arrangements. Shirley Ann was born on April 27, 1935 to Carl and Lydia (Quiram) Linde in Waterville, Minnesota. She was baptized on May 26, 1935 and confirmed on March 21, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Shirley attended country school in Elysian and graduated from Janesville High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Donald G. Witt on June 5, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Shirley was employed by E. F. Johnson Company for a short time, and in 1968 she began her career with Brown Printing of Waseca, retiring in 2000. Shirley was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and the Janesville American Legion Auxiliary #281. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and loved time spent with her family and friends. Shirley enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, gardening, flowers, and reading. She and her dear friend Patty spent a lot of time together going for coffee, cocktails and conversation. Shirley loved to support her grandchildren by following all their sporting activities. She is survived by her husband Donald Witt of Janesville; by her children, Diane (Bill) Straube of Waseca, Debra Smith (special Friend Dennis Peterson) of Janesville, Terri (Mike) Wolff of Eagle Lake, James (Debbie) Witt, Lori (Duane) Page and Cherrie (Ritchie) Johnson all of Janesville; by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; by her brothers and sisters, Orville (LaVonne) Linde and Diane (Ronald) Walters all of Wells, Richard Linde, Becky Linde and Gloria Flitter all of Janesville; by her sisters-in-law, Darlene Witt of Waseca, Beverly Reckner of Wells and Norma Witt of Janesville; by her dear friends Patty Loeffler and Anne Nusser. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Carl and Lydia Linde; by her brother, Donald Linde; by her brothers-in-law, Orville Witt, Elvin Witt and Orville Flitter; by her mother and father- in-law, Victor and Irene Witt.
