SHIRLEY JUNE ANDERSON, age 85, of Waseca, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her home.
Born in Waseca on June 14, 1935, to Howard and Bernice (Curley) Ruedy. Shirley attended Waseca Central High School, graduating with the class of 1953. On April 30, 1954, Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Anderson at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Shirley and Kenny made their home in Waseca where they raised seven children and shared 30 years of marriage together before Kenny passed away on June 28, 1984.
Shirley worked at the State Theater as a teenager. As an adult, she began working at EF Johnson Company and later for Brown Printing, where she worked for 25 years in the bindery. Shirley loved baking and cooking, especially for others. She was always ready to feed anyone that walked through her door. She was very caring and always willing to help others. Shirley enjoyed watching the birds in the back yard. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. Shirley loved holding her grandbabies. Shirley is fondly remembered for her infectious laugh and the giggles she shared with her sister’s. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Shirley is survived by her children: Sandi (Randy) Prange of Waseca, Kathy (Tom) Wichmann of St. Petersburg, FL, Julie (Troy) Warweg of Titusville, FL, Kevin (Hank) Anderson of Tampa FL, and Michael (special friend, Mary Jo Knudson) Anderson of Waseca; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters: Jean Huntington of Sandstone, and Lois (Archie) Johnson of Waseca; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Brenda Heaps; son, Todd Anderson; brother, Donald (Elaine) Ruedy; mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Private family services will follow. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
