Shane Scott Battenfeld/Hart

December 10, 1978 — August 15, 2024

Portland, Oregon

Shanebeloved son of the late Scott Battenfeld and Kim Hart Calcagno, passed away August 15th, 2024, in Portland Oregon. He was 45 years old. Born December 10th, 1978, in Owatonna Minnesota, Shane spent his early childhood years in Waseca Minnesota and later moved to Beaverton Oregon, where he was active in baseball and theater, graduating from Beaverton High School with the class of 1997. Shane’s love of life and people took him on endless adventures, calling various places home over time. He ended up in Bend Oregon and absolutely loved it there. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter Lylah, visiting the Oregon coast, hiking around Mount Hood, and exploring the endless miles of true beauty that is Oregon, with his dog Tsuki by his side.

He loved his trips back to Minnesota where he would spend a lot of his time with his Grandparents Russ and Myra at their Lake House in Elysian. He loved water skiing, boating, and sitting around the campfire reminiscing with family. Shane was artistically creative, enthusiastic, and full of excitement. He found extraordinary joy in expressing his inner child during holiday seasons. A free spirit that brought an overwhelming sense of love and kindness to everyone who was blessed to have known him.

He is survived by his daughter, Lylah; mother Kim Hart (Al) Calcagno; sister Katie (Anthony) Powell; stepmother Deb Battenfeld (Bill Fette); stepbrothers Jacob (Paula) Lynch, Jason (Sara) Lynch, Josh Lynch (Amanda Rahe), and Jonny Lynch (Jessica Loeffler); grandmothers Myra Battenfeld and Gloria Hart; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Battenfeld, grandfathers, Russell Battenfeld and Eugene Hart, and his uncle, Dan Battenfeld.

Private family service’s will be held at a later date.
