Russell Arthur Weir

RUSSELL ARTHUR WEIR, age 89, of Waseca passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Milestone Senior Living in Faribault.

Born on October 28, 1935, in Kellogg, MN, Russell was the son of Cecil and Gladys Weir. He grew up in Kellogg and graduated from the local school before continuing his education at Rochester Vocational Technical College, where he studied welding. Russell worked as a welder at Crenlo and he taught welding in the evenings. He spent the majority of his career at Corchrans, rising to upper management before his retirement.

On July 11, 1969, Russell was united in marriage to JoyAnne Wilcox at a small brown church in Iowa. Together, they enjoyed 55 years of love and partnership. Following his retirement, Russell worked part-time at Cabela's, a job he cherished. He was known for his love of hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Russell enjoyed entertaining others and was often the life of the party, especially during neighborhood garage parties, where he could always be counted on to tell a joke or share a story. Russell could often be found in his garage, greeting neighbors with a smile while enjoying a pipe. He had a deep affection for the dogs he cared for over the years. He was a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.

Russell is survived by his wife, JoyAnne Weir; children, Vicki (Allan) Reese of Mesa, AZ, Kim (Rick) Louks of Finlayson, MN, Melody (Bill) Travis of Aurora, CO, Terry Whitaker of Waseca, Holly Arrington of Dothan, AL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and other relatives. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Whitaker; brothers, Raymond, Arnold, Jack, Marvin; sister, Louise; and four infant brothers.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Woodville Cemetery.
