Ruby Hensel November 11, 1925 - November 2, 2010

Ruby A. Hensel, age 84, of Faribault, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at her home following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr., Faribault. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Ruby Anna Pedersen, the daughter of Martin and Frieda (Taaensen) Pedersen, was born on November 11, 1925 in Eldora, Iowa. She was raised in Faribault and later moved to Minneapolis and married Clarence Hensel. They lived in Young America before moving back to Faribault in 1953, where she resided throughout her life. Ruby was an active member in the community. She was a 55 year member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Eagles Auxiliary and 57 year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1652 Auxiliary and a member of Christian Women. She was past-President and member of the Honor Guard for the Eagles Auxiliary and often would march in parades with the VFW Auxiliary. Ruby worked for Project Able for 5 years and worked at the Faribault Regional Center for 25 years, serving many years as Union Steward. She was very involved with her family, loved the holidays, and never missed birthdays or anniversaries. Ruby enjoyed traveling and dancing. She is survived by her children, Ruby (Daniel) Splittstoesser of Urbana, IL, Janet (William) Kitzman, Shirley Peterson, Dennis (Kathy) Hensel, and Carol (Quinton) Juvland, all of Faribault; 11 grandchildren, Tony (Judy) Splittstoesser, Troy (Chrissy) Splittstoesser, Tammy (Ray) Splittstoesser, Christopher (Diana) Kitzman, Andrea (Eric) Goldstein, Travis (Sandy) Peterson, Melissa Peterson, Gary Hensel, Gina (Chad) McGuire, and Joshua and Caitlin Juvland; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Flora Steinke of Plymouth; two nephews and one niece; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harvey Pedersen who died in action in the Korean War; and son, Gary Hensel.
