Roy Herbert Good was born on November 5, 1923 in Crosby, MN to Roy and Ethel (Whitcomb) Good. He graduated from Minneapolis Central High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following the war, he attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the Medical School. During his college years he was an exceptional long- distance runner, nearly qualifying for the Olympics.
His longtime medical career started in Caledonia, MN, then Glenwood, MN, before practicing 15 years in Northfield, MN. He was married to Lana Bestul on October 18, 1968. In 1971 he moved to Faribault and was a member of the Faribault Clinic. He did perform surgery in Northfield and Faribault, but primarily focused on family practice and delivered numerous babies, well over 500. Dr. Good retired after 29 years of practice in Faribault. He was a member of the Academy of Family Practice, and a previous board member of the American Medical Association. He also served for many years on the Rice County District One Hospital Board.

He and Lana enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Lake Minnewaska and the beauty of nature at the River Bend Nature Center. Roy treasured River Bend. He had been involved from the onset and was a member of their Board of Directors.
