Rosela was born on October 9, 1930 in Mankato, and was the oldest child of Norbert and Veronica (Riederer) Goettl. After graduating from Loyola High School in 1948, she was needed at home because her parents had just started their own feed business. She then worked at Wegge Candy Company and Mankato Paper Box.
She met the love of her life Joseph D. Jewison in 1950 at the Kato Ballroom through mutual friends. They were united in marriage at St. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church in Mankato on September 10, 1952. This marriage was blessed with nine children. She was very proud of each and every one of them.
Rosie was an excellent homemaker preparing delicious meals for her family and many others who gathered at their table. Her baking skills were second to none. She mastered all of her tasks with perfection whether the sewing of beautiful clothes or the patching of work jeans. Over the last 20 years, she knit over 3,000 winter caps for the homeless people at Sharing and Caring Hands, and crocheted afghan blankets for each of her 34 grandchildren. She also did the bookwork for the farming operation which was no small task. At about age 80, she learned a new computer program in order to continue to do bookwork on the computer, a task which she kept to the exact penny up until the final few months.
Rosie was a woman of deep faith and prayed the rosary with her husband Joe every evening, and in later years often said several more during the day. She had been a Eucharistic minister, an officer in St. Anns Rosary Society, a 4-H Leader and was delighted to serve with her husband Joe as Mr. and Mrs. Emerald Isle. The strength, gentleness and kindness that she displayed throughout her life, including her final days serve as an inspiration to all who know and love her.
Blessed be her memory.
