Roland F. Gregor February 20, 1923 - January 30, 2014
Roland F. Gregor, age 90, of Waseca and formerly a longtime farmer near Waterville, died peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the New Richland Care Center.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.
Arrangements were completed by the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca.
Roland Francis, the son of Frank and Amelia (Kuntz) Gregor, was born on February 20, 1923, in Morristown Township, Rice County, Minnesota. He attended country school and later enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the European Theater during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began his lifelong career of farming in Morristown Township. On April 2, 1945, Roland was united in marriage to Evelyn Luker at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Parsonage in Waterville. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville until they moved off the farm in 1990 and into Waseca where he joined the Church of the Sacred Heart. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sweet-Sommers VFW Post 1642 in Waseca and the American Legion Post 149 in Morristown. Outside of farming, Roland enjoyed working with wood and overhauling tractors.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Gregor of Waseca; his children, Gene (Margaret) Gregor of Waseca and Colleen (Donald) Lavin of Minneapolis; his six grandchildren, Nathan (Stephanie) Gregor, Patrick Gregor, Mathias (Amy) Gregor, Kelly (Sahil) Merchant, Shannon (Aaron) Vanjoske, and Meghan (Mark) Henry; his seven great grandchildren; his siblings, Mayonne Schwartz of Waterville and Donald Gregor of Morristown ; and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Ernest Gregor.
