Roger J. Pumper June 12, 1947 - May 27, 2015
Roger J. Pumper, age 67, of rural Northfield, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his home following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Hazelwood. Interment will be held at the Annunciation Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to the Northfield Area Hospice in memory of Roger.
Roger Joseph, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Gardner) Pumper, was born on June 12, 1947 in Faribault, MN. He attended Northfield High School and graduated with the class of 1965. On May 27, 1967 he was united in marriage to Shirley Hassler at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Roger worked at Nutting Truck and Caster for 9 years and then later at Thermo King in Bloomington and worked there for 32 years. During this time Roger also farmed in Webster Township and operated his own Whitewashing business, Little Chicago Whitewash, for 37 years. Roger enjoyed having coffee at the Big Steer, working in his shop, watching western movies, going to tractor shows, auctions and swap meets. He collected old kerosene laterns and Wheel Horse lawn mowers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and could always be counted on to help family and friends whenever they needed it.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Pumper of Northfield, MN; by three children, Lisa (Kevin) Otting of Veseli, MN, Joseph (Beverly) Pumper of Webster, MN and Corey (Tara) Pumper of Montgomery, MN; by 9 grandchildren, Cody, Noah, Nick, Josh, Zach, Stefani, Emily, Isabel and Charlie Pumper; by three siblings, Barbara (Carroll) Netzke of New Ulm,
MN, Cheryl (Myrle) Duden of Minneapolis, MN and Karen Pumper of Minneapolis, MN; by his sister-in-law, Darlene Pumper of Northfield, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gerald Pumper and by his niece and nephew, Tammy and Jeremiah Netzke.
