Rochelle Veldt

ROCHELLE LOUISE VELDT, age 81 of Waseca, died on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born in Kalamazoo, MI on February 18, 1939, Rochelle was the daughter of Donald and Vivian (Perkins) Nelson. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1957. On April 18, 1958, she married Richard Phillip Veldt in Kalamazoo. She worked for many years as a music instructor at the Kalamazoo Conservatory, as a homemaker for her family, and she operated a bed and breakfast while they lived in Alaska. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, fishing, and flower gardening. She was a member of Christ Community Church. Over the years she enjoyed leading many Bible studies.

Rochelle is survived by her husband, Dick of Waseca; four children, Pam (Mark) Johnson of Janesville, Susan (Brett) Easley of Binghamton, NY, Daniel (Kim) Veldt of Enumclaw, WA, and Denise (Scott) McCall of Hastings; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Sharon (Bob) Buckley of Owosso, MI and Donald (Emogene) Nelson of Kalamazoo, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Gary Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Community Church in Waseca on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
