ROBERT CHARLES “808” SCHOSTAG, age 77, of Waterville, died Friday, September 13, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
He was born on September 6, 1947, in Mankato, a son of Albert and Ellen (Anderson) Schostag. After graduating high school in Prescott, Arizona, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. On September 29, 1980, he married Audrey Wilson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville. Bob worked for 25 years in Bindery at Brown-Printing in Waseca, before his retirement. He also painted houses throughout his years working. He loved watching football and baseball, specifically the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and singing karaoke. Bob was a good friend who everyone knew as, “808” and was a member of the Elysian American Legion – Post 311.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Robert (Amanda) Schostag of Fallon, Nevada, Stephanie (Robert) Gahler and their children, Breanna Wilson and Tyler Anthony, of Iowa, Jason (Kendra) Schostag of Sacramento, California, Chris (Nikki) Schostag of California; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; cousin, Larry McMullen; sister-in-law, Shirley Schostag; special family friends, Lynn and Sharon Throne, and the Tarter family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Neil Schostag, and sister, Darlene Ashland.
A gathering of family and friends will be held, Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at the Waterville Event Center in Waterville. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred to assist with funeral expenses.
