Robert 'Bob' Wetzel
ROBERT "BOB" PAUL WETZEL, age 74 of Waterville died on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Born on October 29, 1940 in Morristown, Minnesota, he was the son of Earl E. and Luella (Schramm) Wetzel. He attended school at Trinity Lutheran-North Morristown before graduating from Waterville High School in 1958. He grew up on the family farm and began working as a farm hand at the age of 15. Following high school, he began working at the GTA Elevator in Kilkenny. He later worked at Nutting Truck & Caster in Faribault, working his way up to foreman. Following their closing, Bob worked in the construction field for 10 years before working as a sandblaster at TruVue in Faribault. Bob had a strong work ethic, was highly respected in all of his jobs, and was a true friend helping anyone with anything.
Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a personal connection with each of them. Bob loved horses, hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He taught gun safety training classes. He enjoyed watching old westerns, listening to the MN Twins on the radio and collecting pens. He also loved his dogs who were his companions.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Waterville; four children, Sherri (Patrick) Wolff of Le Center, Bobbi Sue (Tony) Schmidtke of Northfield, Barry (Michelle) Wetzel of Elysian, and Kandi (Trever) Larson of Waterville; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Kenny (Mary) Wetzel of Waterville, Harry (Sarah) Wetzel of Bemidji, Barbara (Winnie) Lutz of Janesville, Keith (Roxann) Wetzel of Elysian, and Kathy (Tim) Hager of Medford; brother-in-law, Mike (Carol) Prenzlow of Kasson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 4-8 PM and continue on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church-North Morristown. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery.
