ROBERT “BOB” LOUIS ROEMHILDT, age 81, of Waseca, died on October 27, 2024 in Mankato.
Born on October 28, 1942, in Waseca, he was the son of Alvin and Blanche (Clarke) Roemhildt. He attended Waseca Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. Following his education, Bob enlisted into the Minnesota National Guard. He was united in marriage on August 29, 1964, to Janelle Marie Lau at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Together they made their home on the farm where they shared 53 years of marriage before Janelle passed away on August 31, 2017.
Bob’s passion in life was faith and farming. He began farming alongside his dad and brother, and later with his sons. His grandchildren brought him much joy and laughter, especially at family gatherings. He loved reading and studying history books. Bob was always telling stories of his travels with his wife on farm tours and their many trips to Branson during the holiday season. They also traveled to California and Washington State to see his sisters. He loved bumming around the countryside with his sons looking at other fields to see what that status was. Most mornings, Bob could be found at the Pheasant Cafe enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting with the neighbors about life and farming. Bob was very active with his church, serving on the board of elders for many years, ushering at funerals, and helping wherever he was needed.
Bob is survived by his children: Carol (LaVern) Sletten, Tom (Teresa) Roemhildt, Jodi (Robert) Kubat, Becky Roemhildt, and Tim Roemhildt; grandchildren: Amanda (Gerard) Duval, Hannah Sletten (fiancé, Carlos Frias), Nancy Morales, Oswaldo (Veronica) Morales, Jennifer (Jerry) Romo, Marco (Anna) Morales, Kailea Kubat, and Kristin Kubat; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Bettie Reising, Bonnie Savage, and Ronald (Linda) Roemhildt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irving and Ida Mae Lau; grandson, Uriel Morales; sister, Janice (Bob) Abbe; and many aunts and uncles.
