ROBERT “BOB” DAVID CAHILL, age 87 of Waseca, died on the morning of Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Foxdale Assisted Living in Waseca.
Born in Alton Township, Waseca County, on April 24, 1933, Bob was the son of David and Marie (Munz) Cahill. Bob attended school in rural Janesville until his mother’s passing when he was young. Following her passing his family moved to the Twin Cities for several years before returning to the Waseca area. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in 1951 and 1952. On June 20, 1953 Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Ida Fell at the Catholic Church in Janesville. They lived and worked together to raise their family until her passing in 1982. Over the years Bob enjoyed farming and fixing up and reselling homes. He worked as a mechanic at Bird’s Eye Foods in Waseca for many years, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding, hobby farming, and cutting wood to heat his home. Bob could fix nearly anything… and his children will fondly remember how well he could make waffles. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
Bob is survived by his children, Russ Cahill of Waseca, Diane (Bruce) Rumpza of Blooming Prairie, Jody (Mike) Buker of Waseca, and Bonnie (Dale Beauchamp) Cahill of Eagle, CO; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Bev Cahill of Salida, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his special companion Shirley Snow; five siblings; one son, Steve; and one granddaughter, Emily.
Bob’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of St. Croix Hospice and Foxdale Assisted Living for the fantastic care that he received in recent years. A private family service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Rev. The Hoang officiating.
