RICHARD WALLACE "SPARROW" SCHOLLJEGERDES, age 91 of Waseca died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.
Born on June 26, 1927 in Waseca County, Minnesota, he was the son of Arthur and Hilda (Mundt) Scholljegerdes.  He attended Waseca High School, graduating in 1945.  On April 2, 1948, Richard married Delaine Johnson at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Otisco.   Together they lived and farmed in rural Waseca County.  Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, playing cards and spending time with his family.   He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Waseca, the National Farmers Organization and the Farmers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Delaine; seven children, Marcedes Hayunga of Waseca, Douglas (Marlis) Scholljegerdes of Waseca, John (Patricia) Scholljegerdes of Waterville, Annie (John) Hertlein of Meriden, KS, Anita Preuss of Claremont, Rebecca Bruder of Waseca, and Sheila Wolters of Barnum; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.   He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harvey, Willard, and LaVern Scholljegerdes and Ruth Renslow; granddaughter, Tricia Scholljegerdes; and infant daughter, Cynthia Deann. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
