Richard Lee Gorell

Richard Lee Gorell, 87, of Waterville, passed away peacefully at his home on March 18, 2025.

Richard was born on July 21, 1937, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to John and Bernice Gorell. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Richard lived a life marked by his strong will, deep love for family, and warm, friendly demeanor. He and Lynette married in 1992 and spent many years in Colorado before moving back to Minnesota in 2016 to be closer to family and lifelong friends. Richard’s greatest joy was spending time outdoors, particularly fishing, which was his favorite pastime. His love for nature and the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to his church and community.

Richard’s faith played a significant role in his life, and he and Lynette dedicated themselves to serving their church, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waseca, MN, and the larger community. Their generosity and goodwill touched the lives of all those they met.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lynette; his children, Dean, Dienna, and Darcie; and his seven grandchildren, Teresa, John, Raimundo, Gabriel, Kristin, Eddison, and Stefan; one great-granddaughter, Lainey Grace. He will also be dearly missed by extended family and a wide circle of friends.

A funeral service to honor Richard’s life will be held on Friday, March 28, at 11:00 AM at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Richard’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
