Richard 'Dick' McKellip September 1, 1925 - April 24, 2013

Richard "Dick" McKellip, age 87, of Faribault, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Faribault Care Center following a recent illness.

A Celebration of Richard''s Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault, with the Rev. Craig Breimhorst, officiating.

Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

Richard Lewis, the son of John and Esther (Lewis) McKellip, was born on September 1, 1925 in Faribault, Minnesota. He attended the Maplewood Academy High School in Hutchinson and graduated with the class of 1943. Following high school, Richard began his 25-year career at the Faribault State School as a Psych Technician. On April 12, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Kaldahl in Minneapolis. She later preceded him in death in November of 1998. Following his retirement, he moved to Colorado in 1972 to live. He later returned to Faribault in 2005 to be closer to his family and friends. Richard enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening, in which he was known for his ability to grow gladiolas.

He is survived by his children, Michael McKellip of Branson, MO, Mark McKellip of Rye, CO and Beverly (McKellip) Garcia of Mazeppa, MN; his two grandchildren and one great granddaughter; his sister, Jean (Herb) Sene of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille in 1998; his brothers Jack and Bruce McKellip and by his son, Charles "Chuck" McKellip in 2011.
