Richard D. Steinberg October 18, 1945 - January 3, 2016

Richard D. Steinberg, age 70, of Faribault, MN, passed away suddenly on January 3, 2016, at the District One Hospital in Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault, with Revs. John and Judy McEachran, pastors, officiating. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Richard Delbert was born on October 18, 1945 in Northfield, MN to Arthur and Marion (Felix) Steinberg. He attended school in Northfield and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served in Vietnam from 1968-69. Following his honorable discharge, Richard was married to Darlene Madson on February 3, 1969 in Lake City, Iowa. He worked for Nutting Truck & Caster Co. in Faribault, then for 22 years with LaHass Co. of Eagan, MN. Richard then worked for K-Bar and currently was part time at Auto Value in Faribault. Richard dedicated much of his life to softball. He had a lengthy career playing and coaching. He and Darlene operated concessions for many years at the ballpark. He also coached hockey and played in an adult league, and was an avid Minnesota Wild and Green Bay Packer fan. Richard for many years enjoyed playing pool and hunting. Most of all, his family was of great importance to him, whether it was on the softball diamond, camping, or family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Steinberg of Faribault; children, Roger Dahle of Owatonna, MN, Vicky (Gaylen "Bud") Wright of Faribualt, Ricky (Kate) Steinberg of Faribault, and Angie Steinberg (fianc, Gary Kuhlman) of Faribault; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; siblings, Midge (Larry) Turner of Northfield, Carol (Ernie) Pleschourt of Northfield, David (Caroline) Steinberg of Faribault, Debbie Davis of Morristown, Stan Thibodeau (and Irene McDonald) of Faribault, Brenda

Rivera of Copperas Cove, TX, Alan Thibodeau of Faribault, Sherri Gable of Faribault, Lori Bang of Faribault, Mike Thibodeau of Kasson, MN, and Jeffrey Thibodeau of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Steinberg, and Marion (Francis) Thibodeau; daughter, Cheryl Bailey; and sister, Beverly Thibodeau.
