RAYMOND “BUD” MILLER, age 96 of Kilkenny passed into the hands of God on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Faribault, Minnesota.
Born on August 17, 1927, in Kilkenny, Minnesota, he was the son of Carl and Lillian (Houska) Miller. He graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1943. On February 24, 1949, Bud was united in marriage to Elizabeth Lucille Cahill. They started their married life on a farm near Kilkenny where they raised four children. They lived on the farm for 14 years until they moved to Kilkenny. Bud worked at a missile site in Rosemont directly out of high school. He then farmed with his wife Bette, until 1964 when he opened the Bulk Service Hardware Store and gas station. He later went into working steel construction for Danny’s Construction Company and High Five Construction Company, where he would continue to work until his retirement. Family came first for Bud. He was a loving husband and father to his children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Holidays were very special in the Miller home. Bud was very devout in his faith. St. Canice Church was important to Bud and Bette. Since they lived across the street from the church, they hosted many bridal parties, priests and friends from Kilkenny, Ireland who visited for St. Patrick’s Day in Kilkenny, Minnesota. Bud was German, Czech, and all Irish, and knew how to care for visitors. He was part of the Band of Irish Crooners, that graced many weddings, funerals, and Irish celebrations. He was a loving and kind husband, father, and friend and was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church. He enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, golfing, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events was a huge deal to him.
Bud is survived by his four children, Tom (Susann) Miller of Morristown, Ray (Nancy) Miller of Waseca, Dave (Deb) Miller of Faribault and Liz (Paul) Gregor of Kilkenny; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and wife, and his two brothers Bob and Jim.
