Ralph Dwyer January 22, 1932 - November 15, 2011
Ralph "Bud" Dwyer, age 79, of Faribault, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault, with Pastor Peter Kuriger, pastor of Harvest Time Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ralph Joseph Dwyer, the son of Edward and Lucy (Bushey) Dwyer, was born on January 22, 1932 at his family farm in Shieldsville Township, Rice County, MN. At a young age Bud enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. After his discharge he returned to Faribault. On December 27, 1951 he was united in marriage to Marguerite "Honey" Feyereisn at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Bud worked as a gravel truck driver for a short time and then worked at McQuay''s and was the UAW Local 1787 Union President for many years. Later he worked at Gluek''s Brewery in Minneapolis and then returned to Faribault to work as a welder at different businesses including, Ponto & Wagner, Nutting Truck & Caster and Humphrey Manlift Co., where he still worked part time. During his entire working career, Bud also farmed in Shieldsville Township. Honey preceded Bud in death in 1984. On June 29, 1991 Bud was united in marriage to Esther Covert. He was a Life Member of the NRA and was a member of the American Legion Post 149 in Morristown. Bud was a gun smith and enjoyed working with guns. He loved being on his farm and enjoyed tinkering with his tractors. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Faribault; his children, Christine (John) Coy of Sioux Falls, SD, Leo "Robbie" (Ann) Dwyer of Faribault, Joyce "Jodi" (Robert) Morrow of Faribault and Jeffrey Dwyer of Faribault; by five grandchildren, Jessie Horn, Jake (Ashley) Dwyer, Erin Dwyer, Katie Morrow and Courtney Coy and by five great grandchildren; by Esther''s children, Diane (Russ) Matson of Northfield, MN, Karen (Charles) Wallin of East North Port, NY, Dave (Sarah) Stensrud of Faribault, MN, Steven (Sue) Stensrud of Corcoran, MN and Floyd (Misty) Covert of Nerstrand, MN; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and other relatives and by his special family at Humphrey Manlift. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first
wife Honey, his brother, Wilfred "Buck" Dwyer and his sister, Annie Mahoney.
