RALPH DELBERT JOHNSON JR., age 90, of Waseca died on Friday, February 28, 2020, at his home.
Born on December 4, 1929, in Lemond Township, Steele County to Ralph Sr. and Florence (Olson) Johnson. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ralph honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War during which he received a Purple Heart. Ralph retired from a long career with MN DOT and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and D.A.V., he was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Ralph’s family wishes to thank his neighbors: Shirley and Kathy for the care Ralph received in recent years.
Ralph is survived by his sons: Jeffrey J. (Sharon), Rick A. (Mary Jo); one grandson; three granddaughters; brother, Dennis (Judy); brothers-in-law: Melvin Strand and Clifton (Mary) Strand; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Strand and Darlette Strand; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis (Strand); brother, Eugene; and sister, Ruth Rhoades.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlin, South Dakota.
