RALEIGH JOHN SCHROEDER, age 75, of Waseca, died peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home.
Born on August 26, 1948, in Waseca, he was the son of Ervin and Florence (Neigebauer) Schroeder. Raleigh graduated from Waseca Central High School with the class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971 where he served on the USS Saratoga. Raleigh was married to Susan Marzinske for 23 years. He worked for Birdseye for 2 years. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for Standard Oil Co. alongside his family. In 1980, Standard Oil Co. became Schroeder Cook Paint. In 2000, Raleigh took over the business, changing the name to Schroeder's Painting. Some of his hobbies include puzzles, fishing and making homemade ice cream. Raleigh was a handy man, helping various customers with mowing their yard and snow removal. He enjoyed following professional sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings. Raleigh always looked forward to spending time every summer, for the past 40 years, with his family in Okoboji. He was a faithful member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City.
Raleigh is survived by his daughter, Martha Hennessy and her husband, Sean of Pemberton; son, Kevin Schroeder of North Mankato; two granddaughters, Norma and Madelyn; two grandsons, Collin and Joshua; siblings, Craig Schroeder and his wife, Mary of Morristown, Denise Lilla and her husband, Dan of Trempealeau, WI, and Steven Schroeder and his wife, Jody of Waseca; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Ernest and Anna (Abbe) Schroeder, and William and Olga (Horsky) Neigebauer; brother, Arleigh Schroeder and his wife Karla; niece, Jessica Schroeder.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City. Interment will follow in Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and will continue until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
