Rae Holthe

RAE HOLTHE, age 82 of Waseca, passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 2, 2022.
Born in Madison, WI on October 23, 1939, Rae was the daughter of Raymond and Blanche (Johnson) Berg.

She graduated from high school in Tomah, WI before continuing her education at the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester where she became a Registered Nurse. On February 24, 1962 Rae was married to Ronald Holthe in Tomah, WI. Over the years Rae was employed as an RN at Rochester Methodist Hospital, an RN at Winona General Hospital, as an Industrial RN at Birds Eye Foods in Waseca, and most recently as a Registered Charge Nurse at Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca until her retirement in 2003.

Rae was especially gifted at caring for the elderly with compassion and kindness, and was a comforting presence to many during their last hours. The passion she felt to care for others did not end at work, however, it was easily seen in every facet of her life. She delighted in sending people cards and notes on their birthdays and special occasions, or just to let them know she was thinking of them.

She was most devoted and selfless in her love for her husband and children, making sure they were well taken care of and knew they were loved beyond measure. Being together and enjoying activities with her family was most important to her and gave her great joy.

Rae loved celebrating every holiday and decorating her house for each season. Over the years she enjoyed playing golf, fishing, doing many different crafts, reading, and watching birds in her back yard. She loved planting flowers every spring and watching them grow. Most of all, she enjoyed time with family and friends.

Rae is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Ronald Holthe of Waseca; two children, Sandra (Michael) Stettler of Rochester and Michael (Danielle) Holthe of Lakeville; and one sister, Kathy Thiemke of Endeavor, WI. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the third street chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Visitation will be held before the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the memorial service at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
