Herschel A. Pullen

HERSCHEL ALBERT PULLEN , age 93 of Waterville died on Monday, November 25, 2013 at his residence in Waterville.

Born on October 11, 1920 in Kokomo, Indiana, he was the son of Carl (Julia) Walters Pullen.  He attended Kokomo High School in Indiana before enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 15.  He served with the US Army Infantry until his honorable discharge.  Herschel married Geraldine Francisco on October 28, 1944 in Hattiesburg, MS.  They moved to Waterville in 1946 where he was employed with Backman’s Produce and Great Plains until his retirement. Herschel loved to garden and grew the best garlic.  He loved to watch his grandson Dakota play football, go gambling, fishing, and entertaining his family and friends.

Herschel is survived by two sons, Scott Pullen and Frances Tasho Pullen of Waterville and Mike and Yvonne Pullen of Vero Beach, FL; and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Per Herschel’s request, no formal funeral services will be held.  Burial will be at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. Â
