Phyllis (Bartelt) Werner, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Janesville Nursing Home.
There will be a visitation for one hour before the service on Friday, July 27, 2018, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Waseca. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in Woodville Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on May 4, 1929, in Waseca, to Chester and Lois (Schultz) Bartelt. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1947. She retired from Birds Eye in 1998.
Phyllis was baptized on June 2, 1929 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca and Confirmed on May 11, 1941, at St. John Danville Church. She married to Reuben Werner on April 14, 1950 at the Wilton Lutheran Church in rural Waseca. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca and of Ruth Circle.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts, playing cards and making cards. Phyllis had the habit of keeping track of the moon cycle and moon gazing.
Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Nancy Werner-Azarski (Jim Azarski) of Minneapolis and one son, Larry Werner (Julie Greenwood) of Burnsville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben; daughter, Cheryl Ann; parents; two sisters and their husbands: Lajune and Arther Bramer, and Jeanne and Allan Mittelsteadt; two brothers and their wives: Richard and Noreen Bartelt, and James and Helen Bartelt.
No flowers please Memorials may be given to St. Johns Lutheran Church or to Bethlehem Inn of Waseca.
