PHILLIP RAYMOND BARDEN, age 69, of Waseca, died Monday, January 8, 2024, at Mayo Health System – Mankato.
Born on September 19, 1954, in Waseca, he was the son of Vince and Gladys (Gehring) Barden. He graduated from Waseca High School and was later united in marriage to Monica Harbitz on April 1, 1978.
Phillip loved hunting, fishing, canning, and spending time with his granddaughters. He retired from Brown Printing in Waseca, after holding various positions throughout his career. Phil may have appeared as a hard ass, but once you got to know him, you'd find that he was a genuine, kind and caring person who loved his family more than anything. As Phil would say, “If I’m not here when you get back, I’ll be gone.”
He is survived by his wife, Monica; his children, Derek Barden (Holly) of North Mankato, Chelsey (Luke) Cassidy of Waseca; his three grandchildren, Shay and Bree Barden, and Kenna Cassidy; siblings, Greg Barden of Waseca and Rosemary (Ben) Ankrum of Colorado Springs, as well as several extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Cindy Barden; brother-in-law, Wayne Harbitz and his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Vernell Harbitz.
