MARVELLE A. PETERSON , age 82 of Waseca, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Born and raised in faith on the family farm near Garretson, SD, she was the daughter of Ralph & Agnes (Andersen) Sorenson. She attended rural country school and graduated high school from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where she met her future husband. Marvelle married Raymond Peterson on June 7, 1950 at Palisade Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, SD. After getting married, they lived in various cities in South Dakota, New York, and Minnesota. Having moved several times through the years, Marvelle supported her husband in church ministry and worked as a homemaker raising their five children. Marvelle was also blessed with many creative talents some of which included, making beautiful flower arrangements, artistic drawing and painting, stained glass creations . She also enjoyed antiquing, fishing, gardening and her greatest passions were her family and love of the Lord. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca (309 6th St. NE â Waseca, MN).
Marvelle is survived by her husband Raymond of Waseca; children, Daniel (Sandy) Peterson of Morristown, David (Kim) Peterson of Waseca, Peggy (Ed) Anderson of North Branch, Lisa (Jordan) Burdick of Waseca, Tim Peterson & special friend, Christie Craig of Sioux Falls, SD; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis (Ray) Erickson of Valley Springs, SD, and Shirley (Marlin) Schmidt of Marvin, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandson, Trae Peterson.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca and will continue one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Pastor Cary Larson officiating. Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery at a later date.
