ELIZABETH “BETTY” THERESA PETERSON , age 81 of Waseca died on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born on July 5, 1931 in rural Steele County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Wanous) Kubat . She attended country school in Steele County. Betty married DueLloyd “Pete” Peterson on February 1, 1949 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Litomysl) in Steele County.  Along with raising eight children, Betty worked at the E.F. Johnson Co., retiring after 25 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca where she was active in the Catholic Daughters. Her life interests included gardening and selling produce at the Farmers Market, flowers, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, embroidery, doing crafty things, holding garage sales and baking. Betty also loved spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by eight children, Sharon Wieczoreak of Northfield, Kenny (Linda) Peterson of Waseca, Bobbie (Mike) Caron of Medford, Tom (Pat) Peterson of Janesville, Pam (Bob) Hinchley of Medford, Roxanne (Jim) Bye of Ferryville, WI, Liz (Tony) Smith of Clinton Falls and Kim (Brian) Battenfeld of Waseca; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and she was looking forward to the arrival of two more due this September. Betty is also survived by one sister, Leona (Larry) Schwarz of Colorado and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2007; brother, Silvin Kubat; and son-in-law, George Wieczoreak.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 4-8 PM with a 5:00 PM Catholic Daughters
rosary and 7:30 PM parish prayer service.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota.Â
