Paul Roberts August 3, 1924 - July 19, 2012

Paul S. Roberts, age 87 of Faribault, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to services. The family prefers that memorials be directed to Faribault Area Hospice or the Alzheimer''s Foundation in memory of Paul. Paul Stanley, the son of John G. and Mary (Unger) Roberts, was born on August 3, 1924 in St. Paul, MN. Paul attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1942. After high school Paul worked as electrician''s helper until 1945 when he started his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in Dec. of 1946 and returned to Faribault. On April 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Marion DeFrees at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. After their marriage Paul worked as an electrician, locally for Larson Electric and Foss Electric and also for St. Paul contractors, Hunt and Kuehne. Marion preceded him in death on May 15, 2008. Paul enjoyed traveling, bowling, fishing and following all of the local sports teams and professional teams, especially the Twins. Paul was a life member of the American Legion Post 43 and the VFW Post 1460, both in Faribault and a member of The Last Man''s Club. He was a 64 year member of the IBEW Local 110. He is survived by his seven children, Paul (Barbara) Roberts of Eagle Lake, MN, Mark (Rhonda) Roberts of Austin, MN, Matthew (Nancy) Roberts of Burnsville, MN, Peter (Kandice) Roberts of Medford, MN, Andrew (Kathy) Roberts of Burnsville, MN, Christopher (Carlene) Roberts of Northeast, Maryland and Margaret (Tony) Bulson of Faribault; by 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; by his brother, John Roberts of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother, Arthur Roberts and two sisters, Jane Fletcher and Irene Shields.
