PAUL J. NELSON, age 82, formerly of Madison Lake died on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at New Perspective Senior Living in Columbia Heights.

Born on April 17, 1941 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of Sigfrid and Helen (Prom) Nelson.   He attended grade school in St. Peter and All Saints Catholic School in Madison Lake before graduating from Waterville High School in 1959.  Following his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until his honorable discharge.    Paul went on to earn his degree from the College of St. Thomas.  He worked in the Twin Cities area for many years as a computer programmer designing cement trucks.   He traveled extensively through his work.  He was also a private pilot.  Paul was an independent, quiet, deliberate and patient man.  He enjoyed doing puzzles and the Minnesota Vikings.

Paul is survived by his brother, Donald Nelson and sister, Barbara (Robert) Lamont both of Madison Lake.   He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helena Schmidt; and brothers, Carl, Robert, Kenneth, Leonard, and James Nelson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake.   Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church.    Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake.
